10 Peacock - 6.2 (2010)

Elliot Page stars in Peacock, a psychological thriller, alongside Susan Sarandon and Cillian Murphy. Despite living in a small town called Peacock, where everyone knows everything about everyone else, John Skillpa, who is a bank clerk, can hide a big part of his life from others. However, after a freight train caboose crashes into John's backyard, he is forced to work harder to hide his secret, that he has dissociative identity disorder, which is implied to have stemmed from an abusive childhood at the hands of his mother.

The film, like many other films and TV shows, such as United States of Tara, misrepresent the realities of people with dissociative identity disorder.

9 An American Crime - 7.3 (2007)

A harrowing tale of torture and murder, An American Crime is a deeply disturbing horror film based on the real story of the Indianapolis torture and murder of Sylvia Likens by Gertrude Baniszweski. In the film, Sylvia Likens and her sister Jenny, who is fifteen years old and disabled, are left Gertrude Baniszweski after their parents head off together on a reconciliatory tour.

The story never lightens and ends with Sylvia's death, showing instance after instance of sheer brutality inflicted on the young girl. A disturbing tale that is hard to watch, the film never made to theaters but nevertheless won many awards.

8 Mouth To Mouth - 6.2 (2005)

Like Elliot Page, born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Michael Cera, present later in a film on this list, born and raised in Brampton, Ontario, the writer and director of Mouth to Mouth, Alison Murray, is also Canadian. Mouth to Mouth was her first feature film.

The movie portrays the life of Sherry, played by Elliot Page, who is homeless and aimless in the streets of different European cities, joins S*P*A*R*K (Street People Armed with Radical Knowledge), led by Harry, a group of misfits and homeless youth who travel together throughout Europe and welcome at-risk youths into their group.

7 Super - 6.7 (2010)

Super is a superhero black comedy, with Rainn Wilson starring as Crimson Bolt, an unlikely superhero. In doing so, he decides to become a real superhero and tests out his life as a costumed vigilante.

6 My Days Of Mercy - 6.3 (2017)

My Days of Mercy came out after Elliot Page himself came out, and started starring in more LGBTQ+ roles. The beginning of this era coincided with the growing number of LGBTQ+ roles in Hollywood and on TV, especially those played by LGBTQ+ people.

This romance-drama film tells the story of people on both ends of the political spectrum with regard to the death penalty. Elliot Page plays lead character Lucy, who is an anti-death penalty protester, whose father is on death row. She falls in love with Mercy, whose father is a police officer, and whose family is a pro-death penalty. The drama ensues when they have to try and reconcile these differences.

5 Whip It - 6.9 (2009)

Whip It was another Elliot Page hit, Page's first time starring in a sports comedy-drama. The film was based on Shauna Cross's novel Derby Girl; Cross also wrote the screenplay. The film was also Drew Barrymore's directorial debut.

Elliot Page plays Bliss, a 17-year-old who doesn't want to join pageants despite her mother's wishes. Instead, she decides to join a women's roller derby team in the fictional town of Booden, Texas and ends up finding her true passion. The film portrays the conflict between a mother's dream for her daughter, projected onto her, and her daughter finding her own path.

Elliot Page plays homeless teenager Tallulah, who ends up stealing a baby from their mother because she believes the mother is unfit and irresponsible.

She ends up pretending the kid is her own and heads to her ex-boyfriend Nico's mother's house, the mother played by Allison Janney and tells her the baby is Tallulah and Nico's.

2 Hard Candy - 7.1 (2005)

An interesting thriller that made waves when it came out in 2005 for its radical ideas, particularly as it came out way before the #MeToo movement started. Elliot Page plays a 14-year-old in Hard Candy who traps a man she suspects to be a sexual predator in his house and tortures him. While Elliot Page was much older than 14 at the time, his young face allowed him to pass for a teen in this boundary-pushing film. The film was inspired by real-life young Japanese women who would lure businessmen with the promise of sexual favors and then just mug them.

1 Juno - 7.4 (2007)

Juno tells the story of a teenager who gets pregnant with her one of her closest friends, Paulie Bleeker. Juno tries to decide whether to keep her child or not and decides to put it up for adoption, giving it to a couple that can't conceive, played by Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner. Diablo Cody has said that the topics of the film sparked a lot of odd conversation, accidentally seeming like a pro-life movie when Cody was just trying to write about a teen who decides to opt for adoption, given Cody is pro-choice herself.
