Next, he is starring alongside Chris Hemsworth in the Netflix thriller Spiderhead, adding to his impressive list of roles.

Though earlier in his career, Teller appears as himself in the movie with him attending the part and getting in on the wild fun. While the story is familiar, fans might get a kick out of seeing it told in this format.

9 Bleed For This (2016) - 6.8

Boxing movies often work with a combination of brutality and inspiration which is certainly the case with Bleed for This. Teller stars in the story of World Champion Boxer Vinny Pazienza who suffered a near-fatal car accident only to set his sights on getting back into the ring again.

People love a comeback story and it is hard not to get swept up in this emotional tale. Teller fully commits to his role as the fighter and delivers a very impressive performance. It makes for a stirring and exciting boxing movie.

8 Rabbit Hole (2010) - 7.0

Teller has done a great job of surrounding himself with fine actors throughout his career. Such is the case with Rabbit Hole, a harrowing family drama featuring an Oscar-nominated lead role from Nicole Kidman. She plays a mother who is dealing with the grief of losing her young child.

Teller made his movie debut as a young man who is tied to the family through the tragic events. It is not an easy story to watch with such heavy subject matter but the performances make it worthwhile.

7 The Spectacular Now (2013) - 7.1

In one of the first instances in which Teller showcased his abilities as a leading man, he starred in the terrific teen drama The Spectacular Now. Teller plays a young fun-loving and popular high school student. As he nears the end of high school, he begins a relationship with a quiet and overlooked fellow student (Shailene Woodley).

Teller and Woodley have excellent chemistry in the charming yet complex young romance. They are also backed by an incredible supporting cast that features the likes of Kyle Chandler, Brie Larson, and Bob Odenkirk.

6 War Dogs (2016) - 7.1

Before taking on the dark comic book story in Joker, Todd Phillips showed he was ready to move on from his typical comedies with War Dogs. Loosely based on a true story, Teller stars alongside Jonah Hill as two young men who won a multi-million dollar contract from the Pentagon to arm ally armies in Afghanistan.

The wild true story is enough to hook audiences and there is a fun comedic edge to the movie even as it deals with some dangerous situations. Hill and Teller make for a fun team with Teller playing the more reserved character to Hill’s outrageous character.

5 Too Old To Die Young (2019) - 7.3

After establishing himself as a movie star, Teller ventured into the television world with the crime show Too Old to Die Young. The limited series comes from Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn and stars Teller as a detective who leads a double life as a killer for hire.

Similar to Drive, Refn uses the pulp story to explore the seedy underground world of Los Angeles. Fans of that movie may be interested in checking out this violent and dark crime story.

4 Only The Brave (2017) - 7.6

Top Gun: Maverick was not the first time Teller teamed with director Joseph Kosinski as the two also collaborated on the intense true story of Only the Brave. It tells the story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite firefighting squad who met with tragedy while battling a wildfire in Arizona in 2007.

Josh Brolin plays the team’s leader while Teller plays the new recruit who has to prove himself with the elite group of heroes. fans of the Top Gun sequel may want to check it out as it shares a lot of similarities to that movie.

3 Whiplash (2014) - 8.5

Teller found his breakout role in the riveting drama Whiplash. He plays a skilled aspiring drummer who joins an intense music conservatory led by an instructor (J.K. Simmons) who demands perfection from his students and uses brutal means in which to get it from them.

The movie is an anxiety-inducing ride as Teller pushes himself to the brink of breaking in order to be the best. Simmons makes for a truly terrific and complex villain in a role that earned him an Oscar.

2 Top Gun: Maverick (2022) - 8.6

Though it has earned a reputation as an iconic 80s movie, few people expected Top Gun to produce a long-awaited sequel as satisfying as Top Gun: Maverick. Decades later, Tom Cruise returns to the role of the skilled pilot who trains a new generation of pilots, including Teller as the son of Maverick’s late friend Goose.

While the story doesn’t deliver much in the way of surprises, the aerial action sequences are some of the most impressive stunts ever put on film. Cruise once again proves he is a movie star like no other and Teller does a great job leading the impressive young cast of newcomers.

1 The Offer (2022) - 8.7

It seems like The Godfather is such a masterpiece that even a story about its making has been widely acclaimed. The Offer is a behind-the-scenes Hollywood story that explores the journey to getting the legendary mafia movie on the big screen with Teller as producer Al Ruddy who pushed the project forward.

The series is filled with intrigue from filmmaking drama to threats from the real mafia. It is a hugely entertaining story that is a lot of fun for the many people who have a fondness for the original movie.
