Friends' Joey Tribbiani is loyal, hilarious, charming, and good-looking. Check out the 10 reasons why he was the glue that held the gang together.

Joey Tribbiani is easily a fan-favorite character from the beloved TV series, Friends. He's loyal, hilarious, charming, and of course, good looking. When Joey became Chandler's new roommate, he easily integrated himself into this iconic friend group and quickly became a key member of the gang.

The gang remained close-knit for all 10 seasons of the show which leaves fans to wonder how they stayed so close for so long. The six friends definitely hit plenty of bumps along the way, but there was one member of the group who always seemed to keep them together - Joey Tribbiani. Keep reading to find out why Joey was the glue that kept the group together.

He Has Connections

Joey definitely has connections thanks to his career as an actor. Joey mingles with celebrities on a regular basis and that's a pretty big perk for the rest of the gang. From visiting the set of Days of Our Lives to attending red carpet events and star-studded parties, the gang has shared some pretty unique experiences together thanks to Joey.

For instance, in "The One With The Soap Opera Party," the friends got to attend a celebrity-filled rooftop party where they mingled with Joey's soap opera co-stars.

He's Tight With Phoebe

While Joey is pretty close with the entire gang, he and Phoebe have a special bond. Joey has made sacrifices for Phoebe that he hasn't made for the others such as taking a break from eating meat and proposing to her when he thought she was pregnant.

It's obvious that Joey has a special connection with Phoebe. If it weren't for this bond, Phoebe may have eventually "lifted right out" of the group, as Rachel would say. Luckily, Phoebe stuck around for all 10 seasons and fans just might have Joey Tribbiani to thank for it.

He's Loyal

Say what you want about Joey Tribbiani, but one thing is for certain, he is as loyal as they come. Joey is always there for his friends when they need him and he's extremely protective.

Joey chose his friendship with Phoebe over a potential relationship with Ursula, he threatened Rachel's boss for "wanting to buy her baby" and even broke into Monica and Chandler's apartment to protect them from danger. Joey has proven time and time again that he's a great friend which easily makes him the strongest link within the gang.

He Lives With Chandler

There's no denying that the gang's conveniently located apartments are a big part why the friends were able to stay so close for so long. Living in close proximity to one another definitely offered a luxury that most friends don't have. When Joey moved in with Chandler, he immediately gained a built-in best pal and friend group.

Not only did Joey live with his best friend, but he also lived across the hall from Monica's apartment, the gang's social hub. This allowed Joey to easily infiltrate the gang and quickly become one of the most integral parts of the group.

He Keeps Everyone Laughing

Joey's charm and humor played a big role in why he's such a likable character. Joey supplied the gang with laughs for so many years and there was never a dull moment when he was around.

Whether he was wearing all of Chandler's clothes, running around the apartment building to find "hot girl," or learning new words with his thesaurus, Joey helped created some of the gang's most hilarious memories. There's no doubt that he was a big reason why the six friends always had a good time when they were together.

He's Always Free To Hang Out

A good friend always makes themselves available to spend time with their loved ones and that's just what Joey Tribbiani always did. Thanks to Joey's career as an actor, his schedule was often flexible. Whenever he was in between jobs or auditions, he was free to stay at home, eat pizza, and drink beer.

All of this free time gave Joey the opportunity to bond with his friends, ultimately allowing him to build a solid relationship with each member of the gang and become the glue that held the group together.

He Dated Rachel

It's safe to say that Joey has a great relationship with each of his five best friends. He lived with Chandler, worked with Ross, bonded with Phoebe, and lived across the hall from Monica and Rachel. As if all of this wasn't enough, he even briefly dated Rachel during the tenth season.

While this relationship was controversial, to say the least, it certainly made Joey the strongest link within the gang. Joey successfully maintained strong personal relationships with all of his friends, even after a failed romantic relationship.

He's A Family Man

It's impossible to not love Joey, especially after seeing how much he cares for his family. Fans see this first hand during the season three episode, "The One Where Chandler Can't Remember Which Sister." This episode reveals how protective Joey can be of his family when Chandler kisses one of his sisters.

This is definitely a quality everyone wants in a friend and Joey has an abundance of it. As the series progresses, viewers see Joey begin to treat the gang as his family as he becomes more and more protective of them.

He Loves To Eat

Nothing brings people together like a meal, and it just so happens that eating is one of Joey's favorite activities. Joey loves to have heartfelt talks over a slice of pizza and he's even been known to provide the food every now and then.

For example, in "The One With The Cop," Joey provided his friends with a pizza that he found on the second floor of their apartment building. While this wasn't the most sanitary thing he's ever done, he still made an effort to bring his pals together to enjoy one of his favorite meals.

He's Actually Pretty Smart

Joey has been known to say some pretty dense things from time to time, but when it comes down to it, Joey Tribbiani is a relatively intellectual friend. Over the 10 seasons of the show, he's had his fair share of smart moments such as fixing Monica's radiator and even being the first to figure out that Monica and Chandler were dating.

There's no denying that the gang needs these brains in the group. Without Joey, the gang may have never found out the truth about Monica and Chandler and they'd still be melting in Monica's hot apartment.
