Hollow Knight is a game with several hidden areas and sub-locations. So here is a quick guide on how find and access the Junk Pit.

Hollow Knight is a metroidvania game where the player is allowed to fight and explore in the decaying kingdom of Hallownest. Playing as silent bug character known as the Knight, players are allowed to collect charms, explore various regions and encounter several bosses as they try to determine why they are in this kingdom in the first place.

Developed by Team Cherry, the game has seen several updates—several of which include free DLCs. This includes the Godmaster content pack, which used to be called Gods and Glory. The content of that particular DLC, most of which focuses on boss fights, can all be found within a certain creature who can be found within an often-overlooked area of the game called the Junk Pit.

How to Access the Junk Pit in Hollow Knight

The Junk Pit is a subarea of the game that can be found in the Royal Waterways. Connected to the City of Tears and the Fungal Wastes, most players will enter the area by using a simple key to unlock the area from the City of Tears.

But the Junk Pit itself is located in a hidden area close to the resident area’s boss room. Right before entering the area that leads to Flukemarm, players should head to the top left corner of the room, locate a darkened area of the map, and mantis jump to locate a breakable wall. Break it, go through, and continue traveling until the Knight reaches a room that is absolutely littered with trash and—well, junk. Hence the name. Players will encounter resistance in the form of gigantic flukemungas, but they should be a minor obstacle so long as the player is either patient or has the shade cloak ability.

Accessing Godmaster Content in Hollow Knight

Alright, let’s be honest. The real reason the player traveled to the Junk Pit is just so they can find the Godmaster content. It’s not like the place has anything else to really offer. But to keep it simple and avoid minor spoilers, the player should not even bother entering the Junk Pit unless they have access to these two things: the dream nail ability and a simple key.

The dream nail ability can be found by encountering a certain event in the Resting Grounds, and the simple keys are located throughout the kingdom. But the easiest ones to find are the ones located in Sly’s shop and the one located in the City of Tears. It should be located inside of a room near the City Storerooms. If the player has already collected all of the simple keys from the base game, then they should head toward the Colosseum of Fools, locate a hidden room toward the back of the arena and defeat the area’s resident enemy.
