The Fire Charge in Minecraft is a consumable item that can be used like Flint and Steel, but it can also be an ingredient in creating Fireworks.
Fire Charges in Minecraft function similarly to the well-known Flint and Steel tool, but have other uses beyond lighting fires. While Fire Charges can activate Nether Portals, light Campfires, and prime TNT Blocks, they also can be used as projectile ammunition and an ingredient in creating stunning firework shows. Fire Charges can be obtained in several ways, such as trading with Minecraft Piglins or crafting with rare mob drops. However, keep in mind that Fire Charges will be consumed upon use, unlike Flint and Steel.
Occasionally, Fire Charges will spawn within the loot chests of Ruined Portals, damaged Nether Portals that naturally generate in both the Nether dimension and Overworld. These structures can appear exposed to the air, underneath the surface of the ground, or even within the ocean. Ruined Portals will always spawn with a chest nearby, with a 46.4% chance of containing 1× Fire Charge. If players perchance miss noticing a portal in the Overworld, they can know one is nearby by spotting any conspicuous Netherrack Blocks spawning close by.
By trading Gold Ingots with Minecraft Piglins, players have an approximately 9% chance to receive 1× to 5× Fire Charges. According to the wiki, this trade will require, on average, at least 11 to 12 Gold Ingots to successfully obtain the charges. However, due to this method's lack of reliability, it is not a recommended technique for acquiring Fire Charges. Nevertheless, Piglins can be found with Nether Wastes, Crimson Forests, or Bastion Remnants within the Nether. Remember to wear at least one golden armor piece when approaching a Piglin; otherwise, it will become hostile to the player.
How to Make a Fire Charge in Minecraft
Crafting is the third way to get a Fire Charge in Minecraft. The recipe demands three ingredients: Coal, Gunpowder, and Blaze Powder. The first component is Coal, a common mineral found within caves and other underground areas. Next, Gunpowder can be obtained from Creepers in Minecraft, as well as Witches and Ghasts from the Nether. Blaze Powder is extracted from Blaze Rods, an exclusive drop from Blazes. Once players have all the necessary constituents, they can craft 3× Fire Charges.
Minecraft players can use Fire Charges when creating Firework Stars, special items used to create the color, effect, or shape of Firework Rockets. Firework Stars can be crafted using a Fire Charge, Gunpowder, and a Dye. Additionally, Fire Charges can be used as ammunition for a Dispenser, which will shoot the charges as Blaze Fireballs, which deal around 9 total damage.
