Potion Craft is a new PC-based early access game in which players can become an alchemist. They must gather materials and create potions to progress through the game, but some potions are more difficult to figure out than others.
Potion Craft’s tutorial goes into a lot of detail to ensure players are as ready to become alchemists as possible. It explains how potion ingredients can be picked each day from the garden and bought from the occasional roaming salesperson. Those ingredients can then be ground up and added to a cauldron. Each ingredient takes the potion in a different direction on the alchemy map. Players are encouraged to find different potion recipes by adding different ingredients.
The first few recipes in Potion Craft are easy to figure out, either through tutorial help or by reading the ingredient descriptions and making educated guesses. For example, the healing potion is explained in the tutorial. The fire potion can be crafted with three firebells, a flower-like herb. When crafting the frost potion, however, players might be tempted to use the windbloom herb, especially as its description talks about using it to cool down. The best early-game crafting combination, however, is actually three waterblooms and one terraria. Players should be careful though, as the frost potion is close to a failure zone on the alchemy map. The best way to get the frost potion without failing is to add a crushed waterbloom to the cauldron first, then a crushed terraria, then another crushed waterbloom, and, finally, a whole waterbloom.
Other Confusing Potions in Potion Craft
From chapter two of Potion Craft forward, the potions become more difficult to guess. Players will get more new ingredients with less descriptive names and explanations. Many potions from there will require ingredient guesswork and exploring the alchemy map using as few ingredients as possible.
Another difficult potion to craft can be the explosion potion since players must pass through what looks like a swirling whirlpool on the map. Some players mistake this for another failure zone. The true vision and mana potions are also difficult to find as they require a bit of experimentation with adding water to get to them on the map.
Potion Craft is a must-play for any gamers who enjoy crafting and puzzles or have ever wanted to know what it might be like to be a town alchemist. Though the game isn’t the spookiest, it is a perfect fall game.
