Married At First Sight season 8 couple Matt and Amber didn't go the distance. Very few people were surprised when these reality stars called it quits.

Matt Gwynne and Amber Bowles’ Married At First Sight relationship was one of the worst in the show's history. Viewers were appalled at Matt’s treatment of Amber throughout the season. He told her not to change for him, and would not change for her. Although things started with promise on their wedding day, the good times didn't last long. Amber was open to working on their issues, but Matt wasn’t. He was accused of infidelity, and it didn't that deny that completely. The pair unsurprisingly decided to divorce on decision day.

As she began the Married At First Sight process, she was open about her abandonment issues. She told the experts about her past and it was clear that she has baggage that she really hasn't dealt with. They paired her with a former basketball player who came home late regularly and cheated on her. She would cry most nights because his conduct would trigger her. When she confronted Matt about it, he was incredibly nonchalant. These two were not the best combination.

Now, Amber is thriving. She hung out with the women from her season in late 2020 and captioned the @abowlforlife Instagram post, When the married girls come out to celebrate D dayyyy!” It seemed like they may have been celebrating her divorce. Aside from Instagram, she has a Cameo account and recently bought a new house. Matt seems to have a new job as a corporate actions analyst. He loves hanging out with friends.

Many viewers agreed that Matt deserved to be on the worst MAFS husbands list. Matt joins other men like Luke from season 8, who gaslit and manipulated Kate for the duration of their marriage. Fans may also remember Michael Watson from season 8. He lied to his wife Meka Jones throughout their marriage. Matt should have left the marriage when he realized it wasn’t working, instead of dragging it out, and he said as much at the reunion.

Although the hopes she had for the Married At First Sight process were dashed, she did learn a lot from the experience. There have been countless participants who have found happiness after the cameras stopped rolling. One example is Katie Conrad from season 10, who announced her engagement in 2021. Even season 1 couple Jason Carrion and Cortney Hendrix found love after their divorce. They are now with the right people. Amber will probably find her person soon.
